If leeds had a mass transit system clacking around on 60 year old infrastructure would we be happy? I doubt most visitors to Blackpool appreciate or a bothered about the history of trams, but it's a shame that those who do have lost a place to visit. Can they run 'vinatge' trams on the new network or have they been totally binned?

Same way as thinking going back in time, no one living in the era working down the pits is going to look at anyone elses pit village, tin bath and outside toilet.....You meaning to tell me there will be a place called Beamish and Crich in 50 years time where people will actually pay to see this stuff?People living in villages like Scholes, Wetherby, Queensbury and Clayton aren't ever going to use the train. I mean who in their right mind would use the train, this is the 1960's. The car is the way forward, rip all the old lines up. What are you saying now? The roads will be so full, parking spaces too expensive, and people will be crying out to leave their car at home and use these old lines again 50 years from now?No one visiting Blackpool will ever care about what kind of trams they travel on, will they?Hindsight is a wonderful thing they do say. A limited heritage tram fleet still operates, but sadly all the infrastructure has been ripped up. That's all gone, they're was some wonderful old tram stops, fencing e.t.c.    Blackpool as a resort is really, really struggling. The one thing that set it aside from the other seaside resorts was it's tradition and heritage.

That IMHO, is because Blackpool is a dump that seems determined to cater for the worst elements in our society, so long as they keep spending. Who on earth would want to go there now for a weekend away, or worse, a family week? The place is over run with stag and hen parties, and those others who seem to think that drinking themselves into an often violent and unpleasant oblivion is a great way to spend every day of the week. Rest assured when the last of the older folk going to see Joe Longthorn or Canon and Ball on the pier pack in going the place will be finished unless they do something radical - you only had to watch the documentary series "999...what's your emergency?" on Channel 4 late last year to see how bad it's got. Anyway, that's gone a mile off topic!I can't believe the way the BBC pulled the folly bus plans to pieces on Look North - normally they are right behind plans like this (public transport), so it speaks volumes to me.
