I haven't bought them for many years as the kids are long grown up but in the shop today I was aghast at £20 for (an admittedly big) rocket.

Well at 17.52 on bonfire night, I have to say so far it's particularly quiet. Not like it was at this time years ago...A few are going off, but it's be no means the opening artillery barrage of the Ardennes offensive! How is it for others at the moment?

All quiet on the Eastern Front Phill (east of Leeds that is)...No Somme barrage in sight ! Perhaps our firework "f(r)iends" are at one of several organised affairs by now for the freebies,to return later and wreak havoc among our communities at some intolerable hour with their own purchases.

Last year driving down the M621 into Leeds at rush hour it was like watching an air raid there were that many fireworks going off.Conversely this year I was less than a mile from home when I saw the first one tonight. There are a few going off now, but nowhere near as many as I'd expected. Dog still deeply unhappy though...
