No pal. Left in 1959. St.Wilfrids Dr. But were the first to move in there from the Farbank. Might well have been one of your relatives biggest mates whilst growing up there though. Brian.?Lives somewhere down Burmantofts now. Though haven't seen him for some 40yrs. or so. His dad [Billy ], had worked at Barnbow all through the war, and until retirement.

The council actually removed familys belongings from the condemned houses, to the new homes on the estate in what were then termed ' bugvans '. Plus a check on the properties a few weeks later, resulted in the homes being ' stoved'. The family had to move out for 24hrs. whilst the house was sealed, and fumigated by toxic smoke bomb. And who says 'happy days'.?

There is a small display in the Arndale Centre at Crossgates commemorating its 40th anniversary and a picture showing the site prior to building, you can see there the old railway sidings which I believe had something to do with Barnbow.Sorry about the pics I only had my phone with me, if you want better pics get to the Arndale with a decent camera.

Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

Sorry, Buffaloskinner, the sidings on the photo were actually the Goods and Coal sidings attached to Crossgates Station and nothing directly to do with Barnbow although access to the sidings was from a point mid way along the WW2 Royal Ordnance Factory. The access line then bridged the Wetherby/Harrogate line on quite a steep incline before arriving in the goods yard.
