That used to be the Crown & anchor/Rose & crown? pub years ago! reputedly haunted by 2 army recruits who suffercated in the hay loft! There was a deaths head carved into some stone around the back to commerate it. It's been removed now & the gate blocks the way to the back. I'll try dig out the picture! It looks gruesome!! The Crown sign is nothing to do with the Crown pub name tho. It used to be a decorating shop later & was advertising Crown wallpaper by coincidence!
