My grandmother from Armley would always describe someone dressed to the nines as, "Done up like a dog's dinner." Never did figure that one out.

Just a bit of trivia.

A common put down 1960's for a younger Man from an Older one was that he was "A right Mary-Anne"

That's the one, Johnny39, thanks. I also remember a sort of "ad" on tele where they'd say, "Page the Oracle"....seems like 50 yrs ago!!
