Thanks guys - I thought it sounded a lot. I wonder how many others have been "accidentally" overcharged?Meanwhile in this mornings YEP, yet more fine customer service from Worst:http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... 1-5017725A bus firm has launched an investigation after a future Paralympic hopeful was allegedly told she couldn’t board a bus because of a broken ramp.Danielle Bailey, 14, had tried to get on First’s X84 service on Woodhouse Lane, Leeds city centre, when the driver said she couldn’t travel as the disabled ramp wasn’t working.Danielle, a talented swimmer, uses a wheelchair after losing her hands and legs to meningitis as a young child. The teenager, a pupil at Prince Henry’s Grammar School in Otley, is being supported by Sport England as a potential future Paralympic swimmer and was an Olympic torch bearer. Her mum Lindsay told the YEP: “If the ramp wasn’t working, then I don’t think that bus should have been on the road.“What if the ramp was broken and a wheelchair user tried to board the last bus home after a night out or a trip to the cinema? What would happen then?“Danielle felt let down and annoyed. We don’t want this to happen to anybody else.”After being denied access to the bus, Danielle went to the main bus station, where she waited for the next service.Lindsay’s fury was compounded when she tried to telephone the bus station to ask a member of staff to wait with Danielle, but reached a call centre who refused to put her directly through to the station.Danielle’s MP Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) has demanded that First carry out an investigation into Danielle’s ordeal, which it has now promised to do.Dave Alexander, regional managing director for First, said: “I would like to offer a full apology to Danielle and her parents for the poor experience she suffered when trying to travel on one of our buses.“I have launched a full investigation into this matter and my staff have spoken to Mrs Bailey both to offer our apologies and to work with the family to find out exactly what happened.”So now they are leaving disabled 14 year old girls at bus stops? What charmers they really are.

Just thought I'd share this with fellow SL'ers.Whilst waiting for a 62 bus today near the corn exchange(19/10/12) up to East End Park,I witnessed the following incident. The very last stop on Vicar Lane is where the 13/13a service departs up to Middleton....A bus pulled in(not sure if was the 13 or 13a),passengers alighted and the bus gradually took on several passengers .The driver appeared in no hurry,in fact he waited at the stop for quite some time.A lad about 19 approached the bus, which had it's doors shut but not indicating to pull away. The lad tried to attract the drivers attention, wanting to board same bus.All I can say is that the driver just blanked him, refusing to open the doors and then began to pull away from the stop.It wasn't that there were other buses waiting to pull on to the stop or similar.Surely,a few more seconds to allow 1 extra passenger on board isn't asking too much ? Another person witnessed same incident and said he was disgusted.I thought the driver was downright ignorant and sheer bloody minded. The lad hadn't done anything wrong, gesticulating or shouting or whatever.....In fact he said this kind of behaviour was quite normal and he seemed pretty matter of fact about it all.I'm sure First would come up with some lame duck excuse as to what actually took place.Incidentally,it was exactly 11.40am when the driver pulled away.Whilst not wishing to tar all First drivers with the same brush, surely,in the current climate, this type of behaviour hardly endears them to the travelling public.

Regarding the chap trying to board the bus and the driver ignoring him and setting off the exact same thing happened to me in the 1980's at the stop on Dtanningley Road near Mike's Carpets.I tappedon the closed door with my umbrella and the driver just pretended i was not there. Some drivers have such a attitude they should be sacked.First should employ people along the same lines as mystery shoppers and then report back and get these drivers final warnings. My incident just encouraged me to pass my driving test asap.

The actual sighting of that stop shouldn't be there as it's right next to traffic lights AND within a lane on the road, there used to be a notice up telling passengers they can't board if the bus doors have shut as this means it's ready for the lights to change, where the hell did this notice go AND why wasn't it included in big letters within the destination display. More importantly why has loads of money been wasted on trams and trolley buses and not re-modelling congested mini bus stations, all they need do is change that square bit into a road to accommodate buses.

Whilst the site was away we missed commenting about the report that stated a drastic drop in bus patronage in Leeds over the last few years. Was anyone surprised with this? When I started working in Leeds, a Green Zone was £7.50, it's now £13 - enough said?Meanwhile, as a user of the Kirkstall Road cycle lane (as the buses seem to be infrequent along there), most days I'm not passed by any buses at all, mind you, I don't hang about. They've certainly increased cycle numbers, and I'm one of them.
I like work. I can watch it for hours.
