Not sure how/why they pick the boxes - but as someone said, this is a fairly unattractive modern one, so maybe a bit of sparkle will cheer it up a bit! It's certainly created some excitement though - there were more people there with cameras when I drove past last night and again this morning. Even I got quite giddy, and personally I wouldn't otherwise much mind if all sport was permanently moved from normal TV onto those 'specialist' channels!

Pride of Leeds - Nicola Adams, the first ever female Olympic boxing gold medalist. What a fantastic achievement!Radio Leeds were banging on that the Golden Post Box in her honour will be in Burmantofts. Andrew Edwards was in fine Partridgesque form.

This contrasting Leeds news that I've seen in a news site may be of interest. "There was more great news from the Olympics as Nicola Adams became the first female boxer to win a gold medal, and her home town of Leeds was quick to post messages of congratulations on Twitter...However, almost at the same time, news came through that her football club, Leeds United, continued to be in trouble. Leeds United Supporters' Trust confirmed that a proposed deal to buy the club collapsed after more than two months of negotiations. Talks between the consortium, believed to comprise of Middle East-based investors and owner and chairman Ken Bates, broke down".The Leeds United news is though really no surprise to me.

No the Leeds United news doesn't surprise me either, and as far as the Olympics medals go, I can agree with Brian Clough for once.... *The first thing you can do for me is to chuck all your medals, and all your caps, and all your pots, and all your pans into the biggest.......For those of you fed up with the Olympics, you can watch the Damned United here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfNXJuEg ... ults_video

Sorry, not Leeds, but I watched it here. Here's a medal we should hand back:- this clip is priceless.Watch his team mates as Hindes (not from Leeds )confirms:"..I did it on purpose, just to get the restart — just to have the fastest ride. It was all planned really" . http://youtu.be/_DKf1NOKAloThis was later spun that he's from Germany, English not too good and lost in translation. Went the day well?
