hooray - gold at last!
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

I thought Bradley Wiggins looked familiar. Then I remembered the sideburns and pensive, upturned eyebrows. And short brown hair, of Sam Tyler on 'Camberwick Green'.http://youtu.be/wf17YKJZv3w

There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

grumpy bloke? more like grumpy crowd, lol, in syria a bloke most of his people dont want would rather murder them to remain in power than negotiate a safe exile, just about every country in the world thinks what he is doing is wrong except china and russia, are they so blinded by their ideology not to see what we see? meanwhile the thing seemingly most of you are knocking starts in london, unless you are under 10 and/or very lucky you will never see this in our isles in your lifetime again ever, it starts with a ceremony so original and such a celebration of what was and still is the greatest group of islands on earth you would have to be stone to be unmoved, then virtually every country on earth walks in, no ideology here just trying to be the best that you can be, regularly we see contestants warmly and genuinely embrace those of another race and creed and forget our petty differences, when someone does a really great time we all take a pace forward reguardless of who, becuause it shows what man (as in human race not sexist) can do, what we can do when we pull together, some teams tried to fiddle the game to get a better draw, they are now going home, the whole lot! when this happens at world cup they sit on their hands, so there have been some gaffs, but at least you will know of them, this sort of freedom would not occur in china at the last games, the G4S should be part of a national enquiry, the bell was a complete accident and if one part of korea hadnt tried to kill their brothers in the south they would still have the same blooming flag, i cant understand the negativity, its like "i didnt want it but it came anyway so if it goes wrong that makes me right"thankfully i dont see much of this screwed up small minded logic now work has been removed from the routine, as has been said dont watch, same as i do during a great many sports, there are multiple channels and dvds,

I've never seen so much news time paid to a flame in all my life. I've not made any comments regarding the money gone to waste on hosting these Olympics, other people have, and rightly so in my opinion, there is a great deal more good that money could have been better spent on, and people are suffering for all the hospital closures e.t.c. You are right though, if you don't like something then don't read it, or look at it, but you have no option with this thing being forced in your face day in day out. Already we see it's not really going to plan, London is like a ghost town, it's empty, instead of attracting people, it's kept them away. Money well spent on boosting the economy? ha ha, it will get blamed for the double dip recession just like the Queens Jubilee already has when the hangover from these games sets in. Personally the only sport I found of any interest was it's a knockout, and that was only for Stuart Hall laughing his head off

I guess the Olympics was always going to be a contentious affair.....I have posted the odd snippet on the subject over the last few days.I respect people's opinions pro v anti and that's my simplistic overview ultimately.I am however, less than impressed by all the corporate jingoism attached to events of this nature. The overhype, endless tv coverage 24/7 and the sheer "force it down your throat" attitude of sponsors, broadcasters and commentators alike. There are many sports I don't like....a few I do.Horse racing is one......however the BBC has now,in it's infinite wisdom, effectively pulled out of just about all tv coverage of this sport. They are prepared to splash out £millions of our money,to broadcast 2 weeks non-stop Olympics coverage, irrespective of listening to every sector of the wider population as to who would like to see what. This one size fits all attitude gets right up my nose and displays an air of arrogance and authoritarian values from the top brass at the BBC.Even grand prix coverage(not a favourite of mine) was diluted down to just show live every second race. The others are highlighted...We could talk cricket etc etc I suspect many millions has been earmarked from other sports coverage to cram all this revenue stream into a 2 week media fest.I do recognise, importantly, that all sport now,has it's price.....i.e. prepared to sell to the highest bidder. This is why obscene amounts of money are "earned" by jumped up prima donnas prancing around grassy rectangular pieces of land. Most people are sick to death of reading about these so called "stars".They aren't fit to lace Stanley Mathews's boots. The money has ruined sport at top level and will be it's ultimate downfall. If you'd have told me 20 years ago that every jockey in a race would have Eddie Stobart emblazoned across their back,I'd say you were talking about the wrong mode of transport     Not to mention designer sunglasses on cricketers, make up,lipstick and painted nails on e.european gymnasts who look about 12(prob 14+...) Sport today is more about "Look at me...." than much else otherwise. There,it's off my chest now....I feel a sense of Karma emerging from this morning's (struggling to get through) sunlight !
        I'm not just anybody,I am sommebody !

And bizarrely the Olympics is one of the few places left where athletes are not emblazoned with sponsorship.
