The carvings on Abtech House are superb. It is one of my favourite buildings and one which I have taken a number of photos of.

I have been sat for a while with my comp on zoom just fixated by your pic. Such a mixture of characters and as for the face under the guys feet....it's a bit spooooky !! Slavery? Spices? etc etc... I would love to know what they all represent. I shall keep looking in on this thread to see what develops.EDIT. Sorry I cannot post you the site, (I'm useless) but just tapped in Abtech House, Park Row, Leeds and I found a link explaining all about the pics you posted. Quite a few links re the building too. A guy called Joseph Thewlis did the work. So glad I read it, I can go to sleep now

Great thread and link. I'm still curious though what the child-like face represents under Minerva?

Wonderful pictures - most interesting - and I have to confess that, having worked in South Parade on leaving school, I've never noticed that particular gem of a building. It seems from the left of the picture that it is attached to the simply magnificent Prudential Assurance premises - would that be correct ??

I shall settle for the head of Zeus and consider myself a little more educated.I have really enjoyed this thread and the Queens Hotel thread which Leodian started. Very interesting threads Hi Blakey, I have just done a street view and to the right of Abtech the shop is To Let and to the left it is Park Row House but I cannot make out what goes on there. Some lovely old buildings along Park Row though and I enjoyed my stroll...haha.
