I recall at the time of their issue it was claimed they would revolutionise city centre travelling. Perhaps what Leeds needs is a fleet of Sinclair C5s not a trolly bus!

It's always interesting to know more about a building one almost takes for granted.Now, who's going to solve the "trap door" mystery? Personally I guess they're situated at the bottom of fire grates or an old waste chute system. Though I suppose they could even be an old ladder-through-the-floor fire escape system seem in buildings of a certain age.
