Normal service to be resumed in just over 2 weeks time hopefully......I did like most of the opening ceremony though.....Neat.Madonna once had something to say about the use of the word "neat".....I'll let you look it up.But it was funny.Wonder what she made of Roundhay Park back then...?Funny old world...

I think other countries may have found it fun, so it wasn't too bad. That still doesn't take away the "bad taste in my mouth" knowing how many nurses, transport schemes and other things could have been bought with the money.Fun is great but an expensive party for the benefit of overseas companies when your country is broke is a little frightening.

I somewhat agree with that. However, I believe Danny Boyle might have single-handedly saved the NHS.

Whether or not you like sport, and I don't, there can be no justification for such extravagance when our brave servicemen are being sent to their doom with inferior kit, and decent old folks are seeing out their last days in dreadful nursing homes (only some of course) in conditions of neglect and even abuse because "the Country can't afford any better." Those are just two examples of where any available cash should be going - I believe the opening ceremony cost £27 million !!
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.
