Hi DAYoung. You may not be aware that it is possible for the author of a post to edit it after it has been posted. Clicking on the 'Edit' link next to your post will bring up the post which can then be edited and previewed etc at usual, then simply click 'Post' when happy with it. Be sure though not to click 'Quote' in error for 'Edit' as that will simply post an edited post as a new message (I hope that makes sense!).Even on previewing my posts before submitting I often fail to spot typos and regularly have to use the 'Edit' facility (sometimes more than once for the same message!).

Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

Having conducted and driven virtually every type depicted, both at LCT and at Samuel Ledgard's, I'm just captivated and full of admiration. In the picture above shown here I think there are no less than five of the ten original Atlanteanns, 331 -340, which "lived" at Bramley. 331 is of course magnificently preserved, and 340 was different to the rest particularly in the windscreen area. In one of those delightful and inexplicable quirks which make this industry so fascinating 340 always managed to give an audible impersonation of a well behaved live gearbox Guy Arab - quite remarkable for a modern rear engined semi automatic vehicle, but it was the case !!

Thats an excellent model of Bramley and you can bet if their early turn inspectors were anything like ours the first bus given out at early morning run out would be the one tucked up tight against the ramp wall lol.

I had to chuckle at that Big N - as it reminds me of a situation which I once brought upon myself as a "nutty" enthusiast. While at Pontefract Depot I often very willingly used to help out at Selby - a depot I loved and to which I would have transferred eagerly if only it hadn't been twenty five miles each way from home. I always used to get to work early for a leisurely start and one morning I arrived at Selby to find that two red Olympians (of course from your area) had been transferred in. One was bereft of names (having narrowly escaped the planned sale) but the other still proudly proclaimed "YORKSHIRE BUSES" on the sides. "I MUST have a go in that and take an all time epic picture of it in Goole" thought I. The foreman was sympathetic, shaking his head sadly, but pointed out that I'd have to move half the yard to extract it for my early run out. "Consider it done" said I, and proceeded to drown the peaceful town in black diesel from half a dozen other cold starters before getting into position for off - and I got my epic picture of it in Goole (one that I treasure) while a nice old kid in the flats near the terminus shook HIS head sadly on his balcony. Later that day, in the canteen, a very irate driver stormed in bellowing "Who took that bloody red heap out this morning ? - its just broken down coming from Leeds and cost me my mealtime."I just pretended to be reading the paper and kept quiet I don't think the splendid 565 deserved that sort of abusive description do you ?? - it was OK for the short while that I had it that morning !!
