Thanks mate. It beggars belief what we have to swallow in this city. The amount of money we generate is huge and no one is prepared to give us the facilities we deserve. I can't think of a city which has less bells or whistles than Leeds. Don't get me wrong, I love my City but you can't help but look at it like the slightly dissappointing child. You still love them but you wish they'd get their act together. Any little improvement would delight us but not totally satisfy us.Harewood Quarter? OK when does it start? It is NOT having a China Town development in it and it will NOT link Quarry Hill = bad idea.Leeds Market - great building but as a market it's dying. It should be the premier place fro Leds peopel to come and have lunch, there should be music and all sorts of "street food" but it's actually full of discount shops peddling substandard produce. In any country in the world this would be a hub of activity but not here. The stalls int he "old" indoor market would easily fit in the empty units in the "new" bit and the old bit should be transformed into something more fitting of it's architechture. There is no vision in Leeds. I think the Victoria Quarter and Corn Exchange develoments were great but we have missed a trick with places like Granary Wharf and the Dark Arches.

we used to love going to the granary wharf before it was "improved", loads of shops and stallswith a variety of items for sale, i feel it lost alot of it's character, and on talking to the stallholders afterwards, they said their rent had been doubled for half the space they had before. it lost all of it's atmosphere, you could've been walking thru any shopping complex.

You lot are in big trouble. *shakesheadsadly* The main problem with the market at the end of the main arch was that they didn't look hard enough for interesting tennants. Why did they not encourage a cafe complex with food from all over the world? A bit like a genuine authentic foodhall not just one with your standard Pizza, Spuds, Fish n Chips, etc.The possibilities were endless but as usual in Leeds, beginningless as well. All the arches are mini carparks and they could house large shops or mini arcades. You could pedestrianise the road through the main underpass and have another market down the middle of the road and re-route the loop down water lane and whitehall road.Just ideas and probably bad ones but it's better than "Mmmm, more flats, more offices, more national chains shops".

Off topic slightly, but LCC does little to promote the local producers from around this city! I know of ONE guy that has his own apiery and sells his honey to local shops, I buy it all the time. It's a bit more expensive, but christ does it taste better!! I am also into buying local produced charcoal for BBQ's. All this took a lot of searching but the Council should do so much more to promote local craft / businesses, instead of bowing to preasure from the major chains!! shame!!
