West Yorkshire Road Car Co (or just "West Yorkshire") used to have a garage on Roseville Road (opposite Trimoco) until they were bought out by Yorkshire Rider. It was remodelled as the Toyota dealership afterwards, although I'm not sure what it's used for nowThe "red" bus station on Vicar Lane was theirs too and again that closed soon after the Yorkshire Rider takeover. You are right about the Bristol VR's - and of course the ubiquitous Leyland National single deckers, possibly the worlds noisest buses! It was always a bit of an adventure going on one of their buses to far flung places like Wetherby or Otley...As a small child I can just about remember the old open backed LCT buses, so that would tie in with their withdrawal in the mid 70's. Bloody freezing in the winter they were!

Glad you liked it Gbdlufc. Ha.. The 10 19 & 21 in the 70's that brings back some memories as a lad, We lived in Seacroft when i used to go to the Leeds Athletic Institute near Leek street flats on a Saturday morning, we used to have to change bus on Roundhay road for the 10,19 or 21. I was always amazed how different these earlier atlanteans were that Miggy garage put out on these services. I used to call them foriegn buses. They were far older than Seacroft's 400/500 series but far more luxurious inside, Fancy laminate & so much curvier!

When you think in this day & age of health & safety those buses would never have been allowed. Apparently the open platform routemaster buses averaged 3 deaths a year by people falling off :-/
