Leeds trolleybus scheme delayed further

Ah, I thought you were suggesting bringing Wetherby/Tadcaster traffic into Leeds from the east, along with the Bardsey etc lines, Phill, and that the Crimple east to south chord with entry to Leeds from the west for these areas was new thinking. I can see problems obtaining paths into Leeds from the east without really horrendous difficulties and expense. It's all worth thinking about though.

If we're going to go in for blue sky thinking, how about doing it literally and setting up a cable car network? Poor bus connections between Horsforth and the Bramley side of the Aire valley mean it's sometimes faster to walk, but you could have a cable car system with stations at Armley, Beecroft Hill, St Margaret's church, by the radio mast at Tinshill/Cookridge and through to Moortown, roughly following the route of the outer ring road. Although it would be primarily be a way of getting around north and west Leeds without having to build another bridge over the Aire it could also make a bit of cash by having a special gondola for things like parties or special events, as long as no one gets air sick.

That seems no dafter than a trolleybus, or indeed a monorail...

I think Phill you have not got the order of the 'a' and 'r' right in the 'carp' part of 'Leeds carpark city'.

Yes it's very comforting to know that Leeds City Council are financially comfortable to be able to afford throwing all this money at the scheme to appease a few major retailers.Call it an "inducement".....or perhaps you have other words as suitable ?Can't wait to see all these extra cars struggle to negotiate this end of Leeds which is already a congestion hotspot.You have only got to watch for a few minutes and see how difficult it is for buses to enter/depart the bus station....having to stretch across 2 or 3 lanes of traffic to wend their way to the correct one.Just a nightmare in the offing.As to where any future trolley bus fits snugly into all the morass is anybody's question.Aaarrghhh ..................

Don't forget the purple slugs will soon be starting / terminating on Eastgate too, adding to the congestion when they start on the 72 route.And when the development finally gets underway, all the buses that currently go up Eastgate will be using...George Street instead and then turning right into Vicar lane to regain The Headrow across all the buses using Vicar lane to access Kirkgate instead of going down Eastgate.And they pay people to come up with these 'plans'...
