I am in full agreement with Phil. I can never pass the bridges without thinking, "Why?"But you've missed something.'Nother Gravy Train!" is all about students. The southern end to Stourton is so there is a turn round for Worst to expand the depot. The northern route is in competition with how many present bus routes? All to service the student accommodation for Leeds University and Leeds Metropolitan. It's not about us the general public using this. This is were Phils excellent idea falls down in the eye's of the money men.And it might be a bit like another thread, but wasn't Avro at Yeadon a spur on the Harrogate line, via a tunnel? Because a light rail link to LBA is needed for a fully integrated transport system. Any road up, they'll save money by buying the trolley buses being scrapped in Ulan Bator and Tehran.

Indeed, the airport is a mere stones throw away from the Harrogate line just past Horsforth stationhttp://goo.gl/maps/mhXC

The Metrolink from Cornbrook to Salford Quays always feels a bit like a rollercoaster to me but it does work pretty well. As far as Leeds goes, I still think a quick win would be to reopen Marsh Lane which has plenty of space for parking and is pretty close to the media and arts quarter, Cross Green and the Aire valley for people who work there. There's also enough space on the site for a small bus station or tram/trolley bus terminus which would take some of the pressure off the main bus station and and the stops on (New) York St. Around Marsh Lane is a bit of an urban wasteland but I think having people passing through and wanting to grab a paper or something to eat on the way to work or the theatre would help to bring it up a bit.Would there be enough space at Marsh Lane to allow express and freight trains to go through without having to stop? I'm aware this is a similar setup to Oxford Rd and Piccadilly, and I know adding an extra station on the main line between Leeds and York could slow things down, especially if trains broke down.

There are plenty of second hand trolley buses from systems that are closing down like Krefeld in Germany, that West Yorkshire Metro reps went to see, Bern in Switzerland where trolley bus routes are being converted into tram routes. All these are of course left hand drive but that wont matter to Leeds City council as they are easily hoodwinked, they only go for cheap rubbish with their "Worst" consultants. If we get enough people to write in to the Government, we could still stop this disasterous scheme.

There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I'd second that one Blakey and "hop aboard".I've read somewhere that if a petition recieves 100,000 signatures,it warrants parliamentary debate ? (or did I just dream it ?)Perhaps we should re-start the Luddite movement (lol)....
