Is The Merry Monk still going on Kirkstall Hill? I remember that from the 60's.Thanks.

There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I think it's a pub that is very close to the brewery so it's called a tap. As in this case it's only a few hundred yards away

Its not busy but surviving just I reckon. Karaoke and other theme nights helping it attracting punters. Otherwise not much going for it.

Thanks for the replies The Merry Monk and The Rising Sun are the two pubs that stand out from my childhood.

As far as I know - will check soon - the school dinner building is still there, behind the Merry Monk. When I lived in Grayson Heights (multi - storey) in Eden Mount the building was in daily use as some kind of creche/nursery.
