Yes I've seen those in Harrogate Drapsey, lots of them on the Stray. I used to have a photo of them, I'll see if I still have it. There new ones and not as good in my opinion though.Well done Geoff, this bench is on Woodhouse Moor you can see herehttp://g.co/maps/ys97qAnyone know where the dragons can be found? I'd say they were about a mile from here further West.
My flickr pictures are herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/Because lunacy was the influence for an album. It goes without saying that an album about lunacy will breed a lunatics obsessions with an album - The Dark side of the moon!

Caron wrote: Is there any history re the snake legs ?I can't find any.I was reading the snake represents evil in christian religion (due to tempting Adam and Eve with the apple). If the benches are victorian (which I'm sure they are) then I wonder if there's a link ? Enough of my ramblings...... I think the snake design is really only because it's the only creature with a long curving body suitable for that curve of the bench design. I wouldn't think there was any significant reason or mythology, just my thoughts anyway.
