I came across www.woolworthsmuseum.co.uk. I thought it might bring a few memories back to other oldies.

http://www.woolworthsmuseum.co.uk/Bit hazy here, but wasn't it what is now House o' Fraser?Down the road from Mathias Robinsons, or did I dream that. If I am right it was there until ? mid 70's?It's all a blur.

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

Long time ago since I lived in Leeds and I am an infrequent visitor but I seem to remember Littlewoods occupying the former Woolworth's site after it closed, almost opposite Marks & Sparks in Briggate.

Hi Johnny39.Yes Littlewoods did take the Woolworth's site for a while (its Index section was in the basement). Littlewoods was later briefly (I think it was later and not before) where the Zara store has now been for several years at the junction of Kirkgate and Briggate.

The last time I was in Leeds I had a shock as so much had changed. Mind you, hand on heart I have to say that the place seemed brighter/cleaner than it was in the 80's.

Anyone else have a guess ??Just a tongue in cheek clue - think of Grace Brothers and "Are you being served ?
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.
