Strangely that though he seems to be well-known and often seen I cannot recall ever seeing him! From his description he would certainly be obvious.

I first saw him early '70s, so he's been "walking" for a long time, waving and smiling as he goes, to be honest I find him a bit creepy.

I think he spends more time in and around Bradford so you're more likely to see him in South-West Leeds. Not sure whether he gets into other areas of Leeds? Are we sure it's the same guy all this time though? He must be around 90 by now if it is?

I thought I saw him near Morrisons, at Thornbury about a fortnight since. If it wasn't him it was someone else wearing a monk's habit.

He does actually look older than I remember him but I did last see him almost 20 years ago. He seems to have changed his robe colour from brown to blue.

Apparently he has been known to get very angry and very very abusive to people at times. Using language that would, well, that would make a monk blush. I think it's usually at youths taking the p and making fun of him. I remember seeing a video on facebook of him running beside a bus and throwing V's at the person filming him.
Sit thissen dahn an' tell us abaht it.

I've spoken to him a couple of times since I did this post, not long rambling conversations mind, just a quick hello and stuff about the weather. He regularly walks along the Leeds outer ring road. I've seen him 3 times this year.
