Pubs closing NOW- in our time.

I'm pleased to say that the Bay Horse in Farsley is open again after what seemed like an apparent full closure. Drove past today and the sign is up again. Hope it's someone who can get past the almost inevitable 18 months.

I think most of the custom on Town Street is very local and maybe there's the 'right' number of pubs for the area. I don't particularly like any of them to be honest, there's too much of a 'fun pub' aspect to them, but they seem to be busy enough at the weekends. It's true though, compare it to Pudsey or even Bradford Road Stanningley and they seem to do all right.

Thanks salt 'n pepper. It will be interesting and unusual if it is to remain a pub. In the planning information brought up through your link I notice that it states:-"Address: Pointer Inn 3 Sheepscar Street South Sheepscar Leeds LS7 1AD.Proposal: Alterations to form 3 first floor flats and alterations to ground floor public house.Status: Application Approved."I wonder if the "alterations to ground floor public house" may not mean that part is still to be a pub but simply that it can be altered to something else?

But there is a lot more if you 'drill down' further into the planning application. The proof that it is to become a pub is contained in the 'documents' section of the application.Everythng but the new name, if there is to be one. 'Pointer' doesn't sound very 21st century.

Put flats above a pub.From bitter experience, the people who live next to / above a pub are usually the one’s doing the most complaining about it. I can imagine the bleating, Guardian-reading, whine... “I didn’t pay [X thousands of £’s over the odds for my shoddily cobbled together] flat to have banging music, cooking fumes, outdoor smokers, fighting drunks, early morning deliveries [tick as appropriate] on my doorstep."
