Hope it's someone who can get past the almost inevitable 18 months. Strange how all the pubs in Farsley have managed to stay open and yet up in Pudsey they are closing fast.

I think most of the custom on Town Street is very local and maybe there's the 'right' number of pubs for the area. I don't particularly like any of them to be honest, there's too much of a 'fun pub' aspect to them, but they seem to be busy enough at the weekends. It's true though, compare it to Pudsey or even Bradford Road Stanningley and they seem to do all right.

And so may be the Pointer.Walked past it last Friday teatime when it seemed to be getting a bit of a once-over from a few tradesmen.Had a go at getting the griff from a bloke painting outside. Fell at the first when it became clear there was a cultural divide between the two of us. I can't paint and he couldn't speak a word of the local lingo. But I will keep my eyes on the project. What might it become then?Flats? Offices? Club? Surely it's not going to be a pub.Anybody know?

Hi salt 'n pepper. There is a post by Spackler (dated October 9 2011) on page 96 of the Leeds Lost Pubs thread that may be of interest. This link should (hopefully!) bring that page up. http://www.secretleeds.co.uk/forum/Mess ... ighLight=1

It IS going to be a pub, but for how long is more difficult to gauge. It's all in here.......https://publicaccess.leeds.gov.uk/onlin ... 0I400Sorry about the length of the link. I can't paint and IT isn't my strong suit either.

Thanks salt 'n pepper. It will be interesting and unusual if it is to remain a pub. In the planning information brought up through your link I notice that it states:-"Address: Pointer Inn 3 Sheepscar Street South Sheepscar Leeds LS7 1AD.Proposal: Alterations to form 3 first floor flats and alterations to ground floor public house.Status: Application Approved."I wonder if the "alterations to ground floor public house" may not mean that part is still to be a pub but simply that it can be altered to something else?

Put flats above a pub. From bitter experience, the people who live next to / above a pub are usually the one’s doing the most complaining about it. I can imagine the bleating, Guardian-reading, whine... “I didn’t pay [X thousands of £’s over the odds for my shoddily cobbled together] flat to have banging music, cooking fumes, outdoor smokers, fighting drunks, early morning deliveries [tick as appropriate] on my doorstep."
