There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I don't know any of call posts or police call boxes still in existence in Leeds. (The Wetherby one is a replica.) There is however an example of both a call post and a call box at Bishopthorpe, the training centre of the West Yorkshire Police in Wakefield.

Some of the Edinburgh boxes have been converted into kiosks and some are listed so can't be moved. At least one has been stolen in the last ten years.

There used to be a big blue Police box on Armley Road facing the bottom of Branch Road. It was outside a Ladies waiting room. I think they were made instead of using a whistle to gain attention, or could be wrong. I have seen when younger the Police sitting in the Ladies waiting room if it was raining. Laugh. Wouldnt dare have said what you doing in there to them in those days. Wish I had taken a photo of it but didnt have a camera, how lacking in handy things were we in those days?
On Ilkla Moor ba'tat!!!
