Thats correct Ravey, Its a government directive that all bus stops must be disabled friendly by 2015, along of course with all buses being wheelchair friendly.Part of a bus stop being disabled friendly includes enough room for a bus to pull up parrallel to the curb with enough room to pull in and depart again, hence the rapidly spreading appearence of extended road markings at bus stops. raveydavey wrote: One of the most ridiculous modifications to bus stops is what has taken place on South Parkway, where the kerb has been extended out into to read, so the bus stops in the main carriageway, rather than pulling in. This seems to be something that is unique to West Yorkshire as I cant say I've noticed it anywhere else, although it could be in other counties too. Popular opinion is its an attempt by West Yorkshire council to use buses as a form of traffic calming system.

It's like the ring road bus 8 and 9, the single decor takes so long to come.

Plus many more buses and trams, some good shots there.     Thanks geoffb - the bus is number 200, an AEC Regent 1 of 1935 which was exhibited at the 1935 Commercial Motor Show. It was one of two which were the first to incorporate the patented "ROE SAFETY STAIRCASE" which was designed by the LCT General Manager W.Vane Morland and was to become an excellent feature of Roe bodies for many years. The stairs were entirely at the offside of the platform, safely away from the road, and had two landings to make this feasible. The once familiar oddly but attractively shaped window allowed helpful light onto the lower landing. The bus was converted in 1942, no doubt at the demand of exasperated fitters, to the normal half cab/exposed bonnet layout. with AEC radiator. The single decker Maudslay/s shown in pictures 25/26 (the lower one is YG8628 (LCT 10) and the other picture same bus quite likely) were taken over with the business of H.V.Barker of Morley in 1935 and ran as LCT numbers 9 and 10 till they were withdrawn in May 1938.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

The knowledge on this site is immense. These buses probably weren't in service when you were a driver, but maybe my dad drove one in the early 1950s. Did West Yorkshire have any of the AEC Regents
