Hi - I was looking on old maps and I can see a burial ground just off to the right of Upper Wortley Road in Wortley - I think its approximately near where 5 lanes primary is now . . . Behind the Queens Pub. To the left of the Oldfield Lane Sports Ground. Does anyone know what happened to it? would they have just built houses or the school over the top of it?If anyone can help that would be greatCheersSteevo Peoples Republic of Wortley !

I don't know what year you were looking at but if use tithe maps you can see Tithe/1890/1910 maps along side a modern maphttp://tithemaps.leeds.gov.uk/default.aspx

I remember the graveyard as a child - it was joined to the Bethal Chapel - it was derelict in the 1960'sApprox here - wonder if the residents know their houses are built on a graveyard!http://g.co/maps/zs3q6This gives me an idea for a new thread - the Lost graveyards of Leeds
