A quarry (?) between Whitehall Road and Cobden Road

I've just been wandering through the Google Satellite view of Leeds and I came across a view that intrigued me. There seems to be a large active quarry (? sand) and further up an odd looking area that I wonder if it may be allotments. To the top of the latter area is what looks like some interesting large curved ridges (better seen in a zoomed view). What are, or were, those? This link will hopefully bring up the overall view. http://www.google.com/maps?q=COBDEN+ROA ... &vpsrc=6It is fascinating what can be found on Google Satellite view, particularly if you do not know an area.

Its not a quarry as such, but Mone Bros New Farnley depot. They also operate a sandstone quarry at Bramhope, undertake a wide range of plant hire, demolition, recycling and general earthworks. As I understand it the depot operates as a virtual quarry, handling & processing demolition materials and recycling them for reuse as aggregates (hence the crushers and screens visible from Google Earth) as well traditional raw aggregates http://www.monebros.co.uk/index.htmhttp ... diy.co.uk/

Cheers Steevo. It was your interesting post on the Farnley Railway that aroused my curiosity to look around the area in Google Satellite.I still wonder what the curved ridge and furrow like things are or were. They consist of 4 obvious ones with a smaller grassed over (?) one to their left and another grassed over one to their right, with a possible further small one to the right of that. Whatever they are or were they get abruptly cut off in the allotment area.

This link will show the curved ridge and furrows like things in the central area of the Google Satellite view. I just hope they are actually nothing of note! http://www.google.com/maps?q=COBDEN+ROA ... 19&vpsrc=6
