It was interesting that despite this major news story in it's region this morning's calendar bulletins on Daybreak still stuck to the usual format where the headlines are third in time given to its 5 sections. In order of time given1st On tonights Calendar...........2nd advert on behalf of the current weather sponsor3rd all the headlines usually delivered at approaching breakneck speed4th the weather forecast itself (recorded the previous night)5th travel news if anyAnd note that this story was one of several headlines that appeared this morning. Sorry to take the untimely and tragic death of at least 3 innocents so lightly but Calendar treated it with contempt given that an 80 year old football referee got longer on the morning bulletins. In the last 18 months I have been in more than half of ITV's regions and only the Calendar region of those promotes its teatime show in the very limited Daybreak bulletins

The lack of any mention in today's YEP (Dec 12 2011) of what is a major news story (at least locally) that broke during early Sunday night on Dec 11 2011 just shows how early the YEP is now published. Only a few years back it would have been the main report in today's YEP.

They probably have no journalists who work Sunday's which means Monday evenings news was written on Saturday Its amazing how often the Daybreak local forecast is wrong on the "current" weather. John "you can leave your washing out" just takes his tie off after recording the late night bulletin and the ladies do little better in disguising they aren't there in the morning but are recorded the night before

I've not really followed the story, but my friend told me that the husband / father murdered his family on Saturday night, then on Sunday morning he was out washing his car / chatting to the neighbours as though nothing was wrong, then he done himself in a few hours later... How bizarre.
