Nice clear picture Phill. It does indeed look convincing. However I think that the four fixing points of the plate are "wrong" for Leeds. All the ones I come across show as a circle, as of a fairly large headed screw - without the slot, probably being what was known as a "trenail". Those depicted are single black points. I also feel that a Leeds plate would usually spell "Street" in full. I am, as usual, fully open to correction if someone comes up with a plate matching the Aristophanes St one in style!

I vaguely remember this series which featured James 'likely-lad' Bolam. However I never watched it as I was out doing something less boring instead. Although many years later I find myself living in a block of flats that was apparently used as one of the main locations in the sequel series 'The Beiderbecke Tapes'. The block of flats is Clayton Grange which is the twin tower to my own neighbouring block. Apparently they did a lot of filming around West Park for the series. They seem to use this area quite a lot in filming. I remember a couple of years ago they filmed 'Fat Friends' around here including using the Midgeleys fish and chip shop at Butcher Hill as a location. Right at the moment our local off=licence has been closed every sunday as the BBC are filming a series about a group of shop-keepers who win the lottery, its going to be screened next April if anyone is interested.

They go up the ring road under the railway bridge on one of the episodes Jon. You can see your flats on that scene, although I don't fancy going through all 6 to find it lol

Old films and TV programs, such as the excellent Beiderbecke Affair, are a great source for seeing local locations (and non-local ones) that in many cases have long been demolished. It's good fun spotting such places. PS. I enjoyed the Beiderbecke Affair but I remember that it was not until some while during the series that I found out there really was a Bix Beiderbecke who was a famous, but clearly not to me, jazz soloist!

Funny you posted that, I checked that place out the night before last. That was Jills house of the second series, the Beiderbecke tapes. It wasn't anywhere near as good as the first series I thought. I found this website about the programme, it's pretty good and has all things 1980's includedhttp://www.80sactual.com/2009/05/beiderbecke-a ... .htmlThere are some original press release publicity letters included.
