Except of course Morley is allegedly not a small neighbouring borough but as much a part of the city as Horsforth, Rodley, or Garforth. Good luck telling that to the people of Morley, major!

It's interesting as the old council minutes that used to be in the Civic Hall were only recently moved here ( last couple of years). It is like a time capsule in there and really is one of the last things worth saving - a true relic of the 1930s sheepscar which will irreversibly effect the area when it gets knocked and replaced by some quango or centre for undeserving people. I too would like a few of those chairs (and some other bits and bobs!)

This is a link to a report today in the YEP website about the coming closure of the West Yorkshire Archive in Sheepscar. Material is already being moved to the new site in Morley and the Sheepscar site will close to the public on August 30 2012. It is said it is hoped that the new site will be open in November. http://tinyurl.com/ct28kph

I've found them v helpful online emails etc. They say :->>Submit enquiries after 29 October 2012. During the move we are unable to provide public access to the WYAS Leeds collections. We aim to keep this time to a minimum and plan to re-open at Morley in November 2012. Please keep up to date by checking our website at www.archives.wyjs.org.ukWe apologise for any inconvenience caused<<
