Leeds lost pubs

Passing by the long disused (and I believe fire damaged inside) Pointer pub today (Oct 7 2011) I noticed that there was some activity going on. Some signs for a letting agency had either being taken down or were about to be put up. That would suggest that there is something at last being planned for the site. I have put a photo that I took today that shows the parade of buildings (some still in-use) that the Pointer is at the end of on Sheepscar Street North.

This photo (taken today, Oct 7 2011) shows a pub sign and an ornate metal gate at the side of the disused Pointer pub. It may bring back memories to those who drank at the Pointer (I never did have a drink there).

The somewhat out of the way area must have little passing trade. I suppose if they are specialised shops they might survive, like the nearby Private Shop which seems to have been there for ages so seems to be surviving despite its out of the way position (or perhaps it survives because of that in view of what it sells judged by its window display!).
