Unbelievably the Bedford Arms is a completely new one on me. In my defence though I must say that Cookridge is well and truly off my patch, but it looks like it was quite a place in it's day.

The Bridge at Kirkstall is closed with a notice on the door that says "closed for refurbishment" hmm.....Traveller's at Stanningley closed too.

Not a pub as such, although it was licensed, but can anyone remember the Parc Mont Hotel on Park Lane by Roundhay Park lake.I don't know if it was in private hands or chain owned back then but I went to a 'do' or two there back in the early 70s.I can't find any old photos or references to it anywhere.

The Albion at Morley, a former Ramsdens house has been derelict for about 5 years, it's been levelled this week.

I also remember the Parc Mont from a wedding function I did the disco for around 1975. It was quite close to where Jimmy Saville lived at the time. I got a date with a nice young lady from Poynton in Cheshire. I remember that well because I went to see her by train and arrived home to see the sky red as Kirkgate Market was on fire ! I searched on Leodis for pictures but only found one which was from the 1890s so it wasn't really recognisable    http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... 2_22509402

Odd that there are no more recent pictures on the Leodis site. I've been advised that apartments (surprise, surprise) now occupy the site.(I remember the market fire as well - I was working down on Eastgate back then).

It depends on what planning permission can be got and conversion costs, but that could prove cheap for a property developer in a run down area that looks ready for major redeveloping. My quoted post was on June 17 2011. Passing near by today I noticed that the Victoria now has a 'Sold' sign (I could not tell if it also said 'Subject to contract' in smaller letters). I wonder if it is to remain a pub or be redeveloped?     Passing by on a bus today (October 2 2011) I noticed that there is now little showing that it was a pub. Signs have gone and anything on the outside walls has been painted over. From the new lettering up I could not be sure what the building is to be.

I do work at parc mont as a joiner, they are apartments/flats now, but beleive me they have kept many original features and not disturbed the layout of the building much, so respectfully altered. They have a big framed picture in the main entrance of that 1890's leodis picture, the people who live there are very nice and seem to be clued up of its history. So although apartments now its been altered very well retaining most of its original features.
