Five West Yorkshire councils have been meeting behind closed doors in a bid to establish a £1 billion fund for major transport schemes in the region. Reported in the Telegraph & Argus, can't find it on the YEP yet.http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/n ... ort/here's hoping its not a £1bn donation to first shareholders

Nice idea, but I wonder how keen the burghers of Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield and Calderdale will be when Metro want to spend all the money on another incarnation of the Monorail / NotSoSupertram / Electrobus* in Leeds which seems to be all they are concerned with.Or perhaps they plan to replace all the verges in the county with mis-guided bus lanes in order to ensure their chums at First keep their monopoly on services...* - Electrobus - not quite a tram, in fact more like a bendy bus with the powertrain from a dodgem car. The name is my idea, but see how long it takes Metro (or the YEP) to start passing it off as their own now I've mentioned it....
