Just wondered as it seems there is the remains of a beer cellar opening in front of it, I suppose that could mean it was an off license in the past hence the fading beers signs on the side as with many other places around Leeds
Short in arm and long in pocket, been a long time but I am making a re-appearance!!!!

It depends on what planning permission can be got and conversion costs, but that could prove cheap for a property developer in a run down area that looks ready for major redeveloping. My quoted post was on June 17 2011. Passing near by today I noticed that the Victoria now has a 'Sold' sign (I could not tell if it also said 'Subject to contract' in smaller letters). I wonder if it is to remain a pub or be redeveloped?

Not sure if this is the right section [ new member ] Well as I'm sure everybody knows that The White Swan next to the City Varieties as just reopened. The pub has had many names over the years, one of which I am told was The Pickadilly Bar. I went in T.P.B many times in the 70s and always thought it was down a few steps slightly below the street surface. I also thought it was entered by the entrance near the varieties that was on The Headrow. Now this is going back best part of 40 yrs and on reaching the said bar was not doubt worse the wear for drink. So having said all that I could have could have mixed the bar up with another on my Saturday night pub crawlAnybody help ?.

I know the answer may be somewhere in all of the pub threads in SL but to save me the time and effort in looking through hundreds of pages brought up through a search I would be grateful if someone could please answer me this question. When did the King Charles pub on Lands Lane close?I used to go there occasionally up to at least the mid 1970s after seeing Leeds United at home games, so it was open then. Cheers.

Would it have been in readines for the building of the New Schofield's Centre? Remained as you say, certainly in the early 70's and later I think.Drapsey.........

There was an entrance from the Headrow which took you down stairs, and also one from Swan Street which ran between Lands Lane and Briggate.
