3 Years to build an entrance?

This bbc article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-13682307 suggests that work on the southern entrance to Leeds station will begin later this month. It will be opened mid 2014, that's 3 years!! I may be mistaken but from memory both of Leeds' tallest buildings (Plaza and Bridgewater) went up in much less than this. I appreciate that access to the site is restricted due to Granary Wharfe/Dark Arch development, the close proximity of the Aire and the station's own platforms 16 and 17. but 3 years for what is at most the equivalent of a 5 storey building about the size of Bridgewaters atrium??

Bear in mind they have the secret tunnel to Kirkstall Abbey to back fill.

Aren't they a bit short of width to put new platforms in, unless they run from behind McDonalds & across the car-park.

If they need more platforms, what about some for terminating services just North of the existing platform arrangement?Passengers could then access them via that underused part of the station where McD's is....oh, hang on...As for 4 years to build the new entrance? It's public money being spent so it will need to be hopelessly drawn out, surrounded in consultants, risk assessors and specialist advisors and come in horrendously over budget.Plus with the amount of residential developments that have sprung up directly next to where the work will be carried out, working hours are likely to be restricted.

They'll also need lots of security to deal with funny blokes looking for some interesting brick work.
