It was a stone carved into the shape of a baby's head and water came out of it's mouth from a spring. As I recall the sculpture was set in an arch and water ran into a stone bowl and there were cups attached with chains and I think you could drink from the spring water then. But that was 60yrs ago,you would be lucky to spot it these days.

The following may help you find the Slavering/Slabbering/Babbling Baby spring (it seems to have several spellings/names). Water used to run out of it up to two or three years back but only does now (and then not much) after very wet weather. The water now drains out of the ground to the left as you look at the spring.Go along Buckstone Road (on the opposite side to the derilict Alwodley Motors garage on King Lane) and just where the road curves left go onto a track at the side of an house. Go through a metal gate and continue on the track. The spring will be obvious on the left in a couple of minutes walk. If coming from Adel follow a narrow track leading from Spring Hill (?) cottages and cross Adel Beck over a wooden footbridge (take care as this was falling into disrepair when I was there recently). Walk up the path and the spring is very soon reached. It is more difficult to give easy directions from the car park on Stairfoot Lane to get to the spring. I hope this helps.

Clicking on the red cross brings up the image. I was very surpised that it appears at all as when I tried to post I got a message "A generic error occurred in GDI+. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code." !!!! Heres a picture I took on my last visit. I remember it as being half way up a fairly high wall in the early 50's
