tyke bhoy wrote: I think this may be an example of recycling. With landfill taxes as they are for commercial operations a slow demolition can result in a lot of recycling even if it is just for hard core. This may result in greater labour cost but offsett by less other costs. The not too recently demolished A -Block at Leeds Met achieved a recycle rate of over 75% if memory serves me correctly. The cost of depositing waste at landfill from demolition is intended and does encourage recycling of materials.Whilst wood metal glass and minimal component materials were removed from site, every last chunk of concrete from the dimantling of the International Pool was freed from its metal reinforcement, ground and crushed and used to infill the resultant large void where once stood the old pool. Depite the quantity of material produed, such was its size, an imported stock of similar material from other sites was required, delivered in a seemingly endless convoy of wagons, one every 4 -5 minutes over a period of many weeks. The cost of disposing of all this spoil as would have once happened, clearly would have been more costly than its processing and transportation between sites. And of course in earlier times, virgin stone would then have been qurried to serve the same purpose in reclaiming the site!

I see you managed to get back on S.L with new account regarding the password/log in trouble then? It's good to see you back posting, and those shots of the fairway are a good record of the place too. I also think your sentiments regarding the land sell off/minimum wage thing will prove spot on too
