Those of you who like a challenge may be interested in the stream of photos here: http://snipurl.com/27nw6eAll scanned from a 1930's West Riding Constabulary road safety bookletApart from the junction of the A58 and A659 at Collingham which others have identified (and I would never have got ....... though once told it's obvious!) the remainder are unidentified!

grumpytramp wrote: Thanks Phil ......... I have edited the OP and corrected the link [the @ symbol in Flickr addresses seems to upset the hyperlinks] The flickr link doesn't seem to work on anyones photostream if they haven't 'personalised' their flickr web address. I'm not sure why, but that's how it is. To embed them and make them work on S.L, you have to reformat the link on snip url herehttp://snipurl.com/site/index

But it's like the old days, you made do and mend, so it still retains some charm with all of it's faults I guess

I'd say that the 'Fifth Down, Left Hand Column' looks very much like the 'Cock & Crown' (pub) junction on (A638 ) Doncaster Road at Crofton, as is already statedThis is to the south of Wakefield, with the War Memorial on the right of the picture, & 'the Cock' to the leftThe Photographer is facing in the Wakefield directionSE 375 187 on OS sheets 110/111To possibly add weight to this location, the Wakefield area 'Traffic' training/development school is in Crofton, but I have absolutely no idea how many years it's been there.
