The pic of the York Road petrol station surely can't be 1969???Not with the price being 16p a gallon??Could be wrong, or it was a very forward thinking garage owner, but decimalisation came in 1971?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I was working part time in the petrol station on Burley Road, in 1971, and if I remember correctly petrol then was about 33-35p per gallon.

Funny, I commented on the pic of York Road showing the petrol stations and now the pic and all the comments have vanished. Not sure what is going on?

Looking at the Flickr site I don't think this guy is old enoughto have taken these photographs.3000 + snaps mainly over the last 20 or so years. One photo of 'myself'and 1972 bus where he looks about 8 years oldhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/cliffordstead/4820831829/.One photo comment suggests that Leeds Civic Trust commisioned the work but does notsay who actually did it

In his profile in Flickr it states "Artistic Leeds based 45 year old with a passion for my home city, love painting and taking photographs. I`m actively involved in promoting better building standards, I also run the Leeds Owl Trail with 3 other Leeds artists...Love getting feed back to my work so do get in touch".It seems clear that he did not take at least some (if any so far) in the set.

I deliberately kept that bit in from his profile in view of some of the comments so far in this thread. Oh, just to make it clear it is not me (Leodian) that made the "Love getting feed back to my work" as that is from cliffordstead's profile in Flickr.
