Right lads and lasses. I'll be in String 'o Beads this weekend and I need a stand pie to bring back with me. Here's the problem: I've no time to shop outside the city centre. Is there anywhere I'd get a decent one? Oh - and how long would you say said pie would stay fresh?

First thought is Wilsons but that is outside the centre (Crossgates) - we've covered pieds together with fish 'n chips in a thread, might be worth a read.Actually had very good ones from Ainsley, always moist and tasty without being soggy. As for keeping - take care. From my professional days, 3 days in the fridge would be my personal limit but if known to be fresh and properly stored before and after purchase, you should safely get a week.http://www.secretleeds.co.uk/forum/Mess ... ighLight=1

Thanks chameleon. Yes, ideally I'd go to Wilsons but I can't. Do Ainsley's do a proper stand pie or is it just your common or garden pork pie? Because I can get those here. I want these Geordies to know what they're missing!

There is a bakery? shop near the LGI that says in the window "we sell Wilson's Pies" (or words to that effect). Hope that helps!

Edit - from front page:'Christmas OrdersWe have now closed our online shop for Christmas to ensure we have enough stock for orders already taken. We are sorry if this causes any inconvenience but at this special time of year we are not prepared to risk problems with last minute deliveries and thank you for your understanding. We will open the online shop again on 3rd January. Please note we are still taking orders for collection from the shop.'

I can't remember exactly where it was!I parked on one of the streets near the courts and walked up to the LGI and it was on/near a corner.I've tried looking on google/street view but can't really tell from there.I think it was in the Oxford Place/Great George Street area.
