Have Our Transport Planners Lost the Plot? (If indeed they ever found one)

They've been playing with the timings on the traffic lights at Harewood. Last night my bus from Leeds was a mere 25 mins late, and the queue towards Leeds from Harewood after 1830hrs still went down the bank and over the bridge.This morning much the same, I arrived at work late. They are green for about 15 seconds and then go red for about 45. Someone's been playing with them!No problems going the other way.

Still that is what happens when you subcontract everything out. Something that never happens now despite the millions of £'s that congestion allegedly causes.Presumably unrelated, but as I drove round the bottom section of The Loop this morning (06:10-ish), the usual sequence on the traffic lights there was out too.

Tell me about it M621 snarled from J1 right through to J4 where I exited for the John Smeaton Viaduct, which was also rammed. Don't know what was going on, but it wasn't good

I suspect I've not been the only one reporting this. North of the border (ie North Yorkshire) they're a little quicker off the mark. The fact that they'd been mentioned on Twitter and I'd copied it to H&D might have helped - quite likely they'll have been on the phone to Leeds.Maybe by deliberately creating congestion they hope to charge for it?Mind you. for traffic reports, they ought to report when the Armley Gyratory is flowing well, and of course when it rains Gt Northern Street floods.We do suffer from the "dig hole, put up temporary lights and do nothing for weeks" type of road works here, causing some interesting diversions.

Northern Street seems to have improved recently - not sure if anything's been done to sort the problem, but I drive that way twice a day and it hasn't been flooded for ages, not even in the recent bad weather.
