Geordie-exile wrote: I appreciate what you're saying cnosni, but I don't think the answer is to be nasty in return. That's my objection. I sincerely hope you all have a great night! I agree with what has been said above is straight to the point. It is made clear to Sticks in no uncertain terms he isn't welcome at this do.It isn't very often people speak out as honestly as that is it?That's because normally people would be able to understand they've caused so much trouble with their behaviour that it's far better for all concerned if they kept away. It isn't nice having to tell people they are not welcome i agree wholeheatedly with you Geordie. But sometimes that's the only option if all else fails.Really what you have to look at is the root problem of all this, and it isn't people telling Sticks he isn't welcome. The root problem of all this lies firmly with Sticks abusive and threatening behaviour. It's his actions that is the cause of all these consequences. It's a shame that the people who have spent time organising this event feel they may have to alter the meeting place, or cancel the event altogether because of one man. Also i'm not sure if you've seen the posts by Sticks that have been deleted. The ones where he's naming individuals on the post title and attacking them personally? They were deleted very quickly i was pleased to see. But i do know others had seen them.I call that dam nasty, vitriolic and unaceptable behaviour to be honest.

Well I personally will be coming, and I don't think the event should be shifted.the landlord can bar people as can we as it is a private meeting.the venue is a good one and for anyone who has never seen the inside of the pub,it is a victorian treasure.threats against people on a forum are criminal acts in 2 ways. they come under malicious communication for which you can be prosecuted. threats of violence can be treated as harassment. threats to kill if made come under a seperate category.these are all criminal offences for which you can be prosecuted and receive a sentence up to, and including, imprisonment.
Steve JonesI don't know everything, I just like to give that impression!

Point abbout the private room has already been noted Steve - the sponsor has no part in this event thus, being in control and organised by members, they are free to invite or dismiss who they please .Youir other points made quite correctly are one reason for so many posts having been deleted during this period.

The venue is not in question, the venue is excellent and is a treasure. My concern is that people who have not commited but who may like to come ,will not. That is not fair in my book..

Ok, Time out everybody. As an infrequent poster on this site, it saddens me to see that the current topic of conversation is to whether to have a night out or not. !This apparently is due to a certain person, who shall remain nameless, who is currently persona non grata to this site.It appears to me that this is possibly due to :-A. Misunderstanding.B. Misinterpretation.C. Class, social, intelect divide.D. Cyber phychosis.I, personally believe that this person is guilty of all of the above , and is incabable , willing or stable enough to interact with the persons that currently contribute to this siteI believe that the Administrators of this site are well within their remit to disclude this individual from further postings to this forum on the grounds of censorship of violence and intimidation. On a lighter noteHope your night out goes well, it would be a shame it if was spoilt by a nameless individuals mindless, incoherent ramblings who will most possibly fade into oblivion i a few weeks anyway.Cheers

Many of the recent posts here should have been removed but we agreed to leave them to be fair and allow everyone to have their say.Points have been made (and modified!) and it’s time to call a halt now and get the thread back to the happier purpose of firming-up the arrangements. It is the bigger person and the greater mind which will rise above all this now and deal with things by ignoring those things which present any unwelcome intrusion or aggravation and resisting any provocation to respond.Let’s try to do this and enjoy the event
