You've mentioned Beeston/south Leeds, so you may already have tried this one, but the posh bar at the top of the City Inn in Holbeck urban village has great views. Very pricey drinks though!

Cabbage Hill, Wortley. You can see all the way round from the Airport/Cookridge tower via the city centre to Ferry Bridge Power Station. Just been up there today with the valley and the city centre totally fogged in and the tops in blazing sun. Only the top of Opal building was visible.

The top of Garforth Cliff on the A63 offers a very pleasing and extensive view of the entire south of the greater city area, especially when driving towards Leeds.

15.5 gigapixel panoramic photoI know this is not strictly about Leeds (but could the council persuade these guys to do one of Leeds on a clear day?). Should appeal to the keen photographers on this forum.What's remarkable about this is the ability to zoom into detail. If this was done for the skyline of Leeds (maybe several from various vantage points) you should be able to zoom into objects half a mile away - would make a valuable historical record.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-1 ... a-pan.html
