There were some posts on here commenting how early in the morning you can buy the Yorkshire EVENING Post nowadays.Yesterday morning that days edition was on the counter at 6.10am having been delivered at 6am when the shop opened with the rest of the days papers. Can't be good for the small shopkeepers can it? Traditionally they'd have had customers calling for the morning paper, then again later in the day for the evening paper (I can remember queues outside the shop at 3pm waiting for the YEP van) all with the chance of making other purchases. Now they just get the one crack of the whip.

I Remember when i use to do my paper round and having to wait for the YEP van to deliver to shops, i use to go straight from school and having to wait sometimes till bout 4pm.... specially if there was a major story in there that evening!, nowadays i sometimes go collect the paper after picking kids up from school and they have run out!

I think that the Yorkshire Evening Post has now reached the point that it should be prosecuted under the Trades Description Act. To show our feelings could we perhaps re-christen this thread "Yesterday Evening Post"?

hi everyone I had a fall out with the yep a number of years back now for printing a full on front page spread saying that me and my son had gone missing without getting the facts right, when all i had done is move from one side of leeds to the other to be nearer family and friends after the death of my wife (the x-mother-inlaw reported it to them cos she had not seen me for a bit), but the way the story sounded was that i had kidnaped my own son and done a runner (bearing in mind that i am a single parent with full custody of my son).it was a friend on the estate where i live that told me that apparently i had gone missing and that it was all over the front page of the yep so i went and got a copy an there it was, so i phoned the yep and had a not so polite conversation with them, so they asked if they could come to see me and my son then do a story/pictures from my point of view but i told them not to come anywhere near me and that if anyone came near me with a camera they would have to bend over to take pics in the future.well thats my mone done with for now lolPaul

The cryptic crossword on page 24 of the YEP today is proving hard to solve! But then giving the numbers and clues for the down answers that are the same as those for the across answers does make it hard! Does nobody check these things before going to print?

I wait for the day when a disgruntled (or drunk) YEP employee alters the paper name to Yorkshire Morning Post and then the looks of shock horror when it goes to print as nobody noticed!

To be honest I can't understand why people still buy it if they have internet access. My mate (who incidentally gets it on a morningat 07.15 after somebody has bought it and read it before then)is often quite amazed when I tell him almost word for word whathe is reading about, having looked at the News? the day before.

The YEP is handy for having things in one handy easy to read form. News, sport, letters, crossword (usually!), family notices, etc. Oh, and a good laugh or irritation when it prints things wrong!

The letters page is a regular source of amusement, be it that councillor from Garforth with yet another tenuous reason to get his name in print, or the chap from Moortown moaning about people parking on the path, or the former Labour councillor writing in bulling up the Labour Party and thinking no-one knows who she is.That and the spulling mistoks.
