I know some of my (younger) collegues who were too young to have seen the programmes originally, but have seen repeats of it, they were 'gobsmacked' that she was only 46 (or 47??) when the first programme was filmed(they'd assumed that, by her appearance, that she'd been at least 20 years older than that)I'm glad that she's enjoying her life, even though she'll miss 'Low Birk Hatt' to her dying day.

Hannah is an inspiration to anyone who watches her programmes or reads her books. I saw the programme when it was first broadcast, there was also an update on her about 2 years ago where she was living in Cotherstone.I picked up the dvd – An Extraordinary LifeHannah Hauxwell won the hearts of millions in Britain when she appeared in a Yorkshire television documentary about the plight of farmers in the Dales. Hannah Hauxwell takes you on an incredible journey of a lifetime in three fascinating documentaries: Too long A Winter: Hannah Hauxwell captures the hearts and mind of a nation as she gamely struggles to maintain her farm in the beautiful North Yorkshire dales in the award winning documentary 'Too Long A Winter'. Her battle to survive alone on an isolated farm with no electricity or running water - and in abject poverty - made her the nation's most unlikely celebrity. A Winter Too Many: 16 years have elapsed since Too Long A Winter and a combination of fading health and a series of devastatingly bitter winters culminates in Hannah being heart-wrenchingly driven off her beloved farm. Innocent Abroad: At the ripe old age of 65 Hannah Hauxwell is travelling for the first time. Embarking on the journey of a lifetime Hannah visits the place she once only dreamed of. She retraces the steps of Victorian maiden ladies as her grand tour of Europe commences in Paris and along the way takes in Switzerland Germany Austria and Italy before arriving home in opulent splendour on board the Orient Express
Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

I too remember the programs when on tv a great lady.Let us remember that the life she lived was all she had ever known. So to her it was normal to live like that dont take this the wrong way, im just trying to say what seems hard to us is normal to someone who has been brought up all there life to live this way.I am so pleased to hear she is in good health may her years be many,
No matter were i end my days im an Hunslet lad with Hunslet ways.
