I stand to be corrected, just following the statement on IMDB that the Wakefield scene has hardly changed since the scene was filmed, I'm struggling to place it using Street View.Perhaps that other bus visible in the background is the key? It's not in LCT colours, so perhaps it is the livery of a bus that would be operating in Wakefield at the time? Perhaps someone can help there? The team Richard Harris goes to sign for is referred to as "City" throughout the film, so perhaps the use of a destination board showing City Square just happened to fit with the scene - maybe set to the 66 route as that's what the bus crew would run if they were going to City Square? Plus as a "foreign" bus they would have less worries about anyone trying to catch it!If you watch the scene in the film, there is a police constable stood just up the street from the news vendor keeping a very beady eye on things - perhaps also to prevent bystanders getting overly involved.

As someone who has a little experience of working in the film business, the scene would not be filmed using a "real" bus, as there are too many things that can go wrong. It is a prop, and just happens to have that particular destination board. I don't know Wakefield Westgate, but, having looked at Davey's stills, I'm pretty sure it's not the Headrow. Could be wrong though.     But why would they have a LCT bus when there would have been a whole garage of West Riding buses just around the corner from Belle Vue?

Dunno, Trojan, but Davey's speculation (see above) may hold water. Also, the film company was most likely from down south, so the props buyer/art director may have sourced a bus from the nearest big city (Leeds.)Going by Cardiarms' Google Street View, the street in the film does look more like Wakefield Westgate than the Headrow. Surely someone must know if there is/was a Bull Hotel there? I doubt if the fleeting glimpse of the pub warranted some set-dressing.

Looks like I was wrong - having had a good look at Westgate in Wakefield the windows on the first floor of Reflex bar (at the junction with Market Street) are almost certainly those of the Bull Hotel in that scene. The ground floor windows are totally different now, as you might expect. There is no sign now of the tall building that I thought resembled the Methodist church though. It's funny how the eye can be tricked.Apologies for the wild goose chase.

Hi Jim. Highlight the link posted in the thread by pressing the left mouse button and dragging the cursor across the link. It should go blue. Right click on it. Then click 'copy' on the little window that appears. Right click on the message bar (directly to the right of the blue circled arrows at the top left corner of the screen) and click 'paste.' The link you highlighted should appear on the message bar. Press enter, and Robert's your mother's brother! You're in! Clear as mud?

If its meant to be in Leeds have a bus with Leeds livery on so everyone could assosciate it with Leeds. The destination board would only be familiar to people in and around Leeds and a West Riding bus would only be known to some residents of western yorkshire as running in to Leeds. According to this http://www.wakefieldfhs.org.uk/Public%2 ... ensus.html there was a Bull Hotel in Westgate in 1891. Whether it was still there nearly 80 years later?? Also mentioned here but with no date http://freepages.education.rootsweb.com ... ubsad.html
