In that it states locals were dismayed and upset when the Grey Goose closed several months ago. The YEP noted that the building has now been earmarked as a possible restaurant. It also notes that at least one of the former customers has decided to express disappointment by spraying "Bring Back the Goose" across the building's exterior (there is an image of that and the pub sign). The article is headed 'At least one ex-customer doesn't think Goose is cooked". A restaurant???oh yeah - that'd be a gold mine. - unless they mean MaccyD's I s'pose. The Grey Goose. It was a rough place even in the 1970's when Peter Jarvis was the Landlord. Who would want to go for a meal around there ?BTW called in the Garden Gate last Monday, it was a pleasure. Leeds Best was on top formPS. No slight on Belle Isle, from a ex Miggy lad I met a lass in there once - when I walked in it was like the scene in The Slaughtered Lamb from the film An American Werewolf In London.Turned out to be a lively night. It's quite a random piece in the YEP though isn't it?As for becoming a restaurant, if they have plans for one of those £4.99 all you can eat carveries, they'll make a mint. Jamie Oliver might struggle though!

That _has_ been shut for ages but as far as I know (& I may well be wrong) the Pack Horse is still alive & kicking? I'm absolutely certain burtyboy, sad to say.

The Haddon Hall, a CostCutter? Sacrilige! How many good bands have we seen in that lovely art deco interior, and supped gassy electric Tets before heading down to the curry houses with buzzing ears and latent indigestion. Things really are desperate now and don't look like improving with the new lot in power (see the latest Wetherspoons News and the editorial by Tim Martin).Any hope for the Rising Sun?

It most certainly was for exterior shots. Interior shots were always filmed on a studio set. The pub was originally called the ,Commercial, and the signs were changed over for filming. Eventually the owners must have thought this was a waste of time and so called it the 'Woolpack' meaning they didnt have to change signs over. I cant believe someone cant make a go of this pub.
