I read somewhere that the story is based on his book "Aftermath" which was set mainly in Leeds. Anyone notice any filming going on anywhere? Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

Some of the finest Leeds on film material I know is to be found on Leeds Transport Historical Society's Leeds Trams video. 115 minutes of marvelous material including a fine version of the Le Prince Leeds Bridge clip, horse, steam, and electric trams in City Square in 1897, Boar Lane in 1900, and for followers of recent threads the Queens Hall, and a selection of shots of Leeds trolleybuses on the New Farnley route, one of which catches a glimpse of the goods tram tracks across Dragon Bridge. There is so much it isn't possible to list it all. Some of the narrative uses still photographs, but the vast majority, including the shots I refer to is cinematic. My copy is VHS, don't know if it's available on DVD.

The DVD is a little pricey at 19 pounds can be found here.http://www.leedscivictrust.org.uk/view.aspx?id=215(I think this is the same DVD)

I posted a few stills from this DVD showing the middleton railway, the middleton light railway and the great northern two or three years ago (link below) . I bought it via the net from an authorised supplier and although well packaged and presented it was a copy of the video{not a fresh recompilation) albeit a very good one. Have to agree with jim the content is superb. http://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messag ... ighLight=1

This Sporting Life was shown a week or two ago and I've only just got round to watching it again.About 25 minutes in Richard Harris jumps off an open-backed Leeds City Transport bus, buys a paper and then jumps back on the bus as it's setting off. It's definitely an LCT bus as the crest on the side can clearly be seenIn the background there are the offices of Prudential and a pub called The Bull - any idea where this might have been as I didn't recognise it (although to be fair, I wasn't around when it was filmed!)?Apologies if this has already been covered.

I could be wrong but i think the scene you mentioned was filmed at Wakefield Westgate. Try the website Reel Streets, British film locations. I think there's a still of the scene you described. Thanks Franco - did LCT get as far as Wakefield?I've just run the scene back again - if it helps the bus is a number 66 with City Square on the destination board - under which it states "Beckett Street, City Square, Wellington Road".It's actually The Bull Hotel in the background to give it the full title.
