I can only mean where the Holbeck stations were Drapsey. You should obviously know where i mean if you know where the stations were. I thought i'd explained all this before! The matters closed as far as i'm concerned. It's not getting anywhere!

Phil, just to clarify, we're talking about two different points on Gelderd Road. The railways cross at Holbeck Junction, blue circle on the pic, and Gelderd Jucntion, red circle. The fine skew arch bridge is at Holbeck Junction, blue circle, every stone a sermon in itself. So as you say this can't be where the pic is taken from. The suggestion is that it's taken from the red dot point in the pic. Though this still doesn't say where that subway has gone. The buildings indicated by the thick red line seem to match up pretty well with those in the original pic.And the real question is, why am I up after midnight doing this!!

Mid night oil. I dunno about all this Rik. You just use that Sherlock holmes power of deduction you have great skill with & think MIDLAND railway. That should help you solve all of this! http://flickr.com/photos/thanoz/1014985233/

I know why it's confusing you so much. I made the very same mistake when jsb uploaded it 9 days ago i thought it was Wellington road. Whitehall road has been widened & the bridge & pedestrian arch flattened obviously. It is a very decieving picture but imagine it without the abutment alteration. Whats on Whitehall road now is not like on the 1915 pic.

Rik just look at the vast width of track you have circled in both positions, Can that possibly measure up to your picture?

The 1908 map shows 3 bridges crossing Whitehall road. It's been remodelled out of all proportion now it only carries 2. Can you see the confusion why it looks so very different now?

You can see how the track work ran over the point where the photographer is stood! Can you see the rather abrupt ending to the short siding with the wagon on & to the right? I've always wondered about that. It's just been chopped off where it ran over to this side. THIS IS WHERE YOUR PEDESTRIAN ARCH has vanished from, This bridge with the pedestrian arch that WAS here has been flattened. I have an excellent pic somewhere i'll dig out later! Dunno how the subway worked then. Underground perhaps?
