The Elland Road site has been earmarked for the Super Police station by WY Police. When Millgarth is closed and sold, they want to be at Elland Road. And I still think it's daft not to have a Railway Halt for matches there. Think of the ease of access by away supporters instead of bussing or being marched from town.

I think that a city centre site was essential fo the arena.Sound logic dictates that the Elland Road site is clearly the best option when it comes to transport, both road and rail. But it would mean that the local economy would not benefit as much as it could from a city centre location. When i go to Sheffield (which now inever will again after their pathetic moaning) i go in the car, park up,get on the tramj,go in the gig, then go back.I spend money only on the ticket.when i go to Manchester i go on the train, sometimes stop over, always have a shed load of ale and something to eat.Manchester benefits from my money,it benefits from the jobs created by myself and tens of thousands of others going to the gig, where as the only people who benefit at Sheffield are the promoters and the act.Now i know that some people wil do in Sheffield what i do in Manchester, but not as many.I did write to Andrew Carter when the whole arena bit came up (no it wasnt like my drunken skulls message to the Leeds Civic society the Geordie Exile quite rightly ticked me off for!!) etoling the benefits to the loocal economy that a city centre site would bring.I am however a little concerned about the Merrion site.I suppose it isnt that far away from the train station,Picadilly is just as far as the MEN,but we dont have the tram that Manchester does.I thought of another site, which is in council ownership, which would have been better (IMHO),follow this link to another older arena thread.http://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messag ... Light=1Any way i am chuffed about the arena,i think it looks excellent.

I have to say Chris yours is the best suggestion (and common sense) location i've seen. The only question is would it have been big enough? And a question of parking. But all in all. That's a brilliant site

But all in all. That's a brilliant site Phil if you look at the message attached to the mock up it says that the footprint that used was bigger than the footprint that the Liverpool Echo arena takes up.The seated capacity there is 7513,11000 if seats are removed for standing.Still that wont happen now.But i am glad we will have our own arena, and we can all benefit from the positive knock on effects (though there will be negatives) of having such a facility. It may bring people to Leeds who would never have come here, and perhaps they will see what its really like and may want to come back for longer stays. Its good for restaurants, bars, hotels, tourism in general, and the profile of Leeds. This means jobs and the better standard of living provided by employment will benefit everyone in Leeds, even those who dont actually go there.Im not saying its the promised land, but its certainly going to bring revenue to the city which we would not have had without.

Is there any likelyhood it could be aborted? Hope not!
