Nice work again, Drapesy. I've often wondered if the taxi place on Wesley Street was a pub. It has a similar corner door like the Star/Chip-in-Dales. I've heard a rumour that Wetherspoon's now have their eye on the Black Horse. Could be just hear-say, but it's their type of building. No more news on what was The Curlew, but renovation work continues apace.

I thought that was a very unsuitable building for their "genre" and the Black Horse is, I should imagine, almost ready to move into after the odd lick of paint so to speak.

I've only ever once been to pubs in Otley and that was on a lads pub crawl at least 30 years ago! I recall there were so many pubs you could effectively come out of one and go straight into another! In view of all the closures mentioned in the thread things seem to have changed a lot.

Just learned that The Spite closes tonight (Monday Aug 30th) for the last time - conversion to housing. Just when they'd got the beer right. presumably another Enterprise job. Bah - when will someone be brave enough to sever this dreadful tie system, while we've still some pubs left?

Blimey that's a shock - I drove past it only last Wednesday and, while I didn't take particular notice, it seemed to be "alive and well."
