"i had these things called bean rounders they were very nice sausage meat in breadcrumbs with baked beans in middle, i kept asking my dad to buy them but couldnt find them anywhere, and have never done since. "You weren't at Smeaton were you? I have a recollection of 'Beanies' showing up some time in the 80s.Used to like the school rice pudding, i loved the brown skin on it and no-one else liked that so if i asked for some i sort of got extra. Like a few people, the liver put me off the stuff for life.Strangely i remember loving the spam fritters, a couple of years back i got some from Iceland and fried them up, and they were bloody minging!

Very cosmoplotian for LS9!School Biscuits - flat, golden biscuits with a thumb hole with a blob of jam in!Ice cream blocks wrapped in individual wrappersCheap cola/lemonade in plastic cans (high school)Hated:Being in 'last dinners' and only having a tepid grey looking meat dish to choose fromVeg boiled within an inch of it's life

Not a school dinner, but related. Getting milk in small bottles and sometimes orange juice.

I don't recall ever seeing malt being given out at school but I loved the taste of Virol when I was a kid. Scooped out of the jar with a spoon. Mmmmm, nice. I also got cod liver oil at home and hated the taste.
